Netherlands
< back up to Europe
- There are national geo standards (IMGeo)
- ImGeo 2.0 (2012) integrates with CityGML, thereby allowing 3D modeling.
- It's managed by Geonovum, the
NSDI executive committee in the Netherlands.
- AHN:
Up-to-date Height Model of The Netherlands (Actueel Hoogtebestand Nederland,
site is in Dutch)
- AHN is a digital terrain model of the Netherlands, owned by the 26
water boards and
Rijkswaterstaat.
- AHN-1: The first generation made in 1996-2003; pointspacing is
4-5 m.
- AHN-2: Starting 2006, a second generation, in progress with 9
points/m2 (1/3 m pointspacing). The updated specs is to handle
their most demanding application: dike management. According to a 2010
paper, "How
the AHN became a massive point data cloud", "the massive amount of
data and limitations of hard- and software caused the point data to be
much less used than the grid data."
- It is apparently commercially licensed; you email them a SHP file of
your area of interest, to get a quote.
- Apeldoorn
- Delft
- DelftTech is a 3D laser company,
one of the earliest (since 1998). They "scanned the inner city of Delft
and scanned and modelled the inner cities of Doetinchem and Zutphen and
modelled it back to before WWII (1939). Doetinchem as well as Zutphen have
been reconstructed in 3D and made interactive with a game engine. This has
been done for Cultural Heritage Preservation."
- general contact for people interested in modeling the country: Paul-Christiaan
Diks (paulchristiaan.diks@nl.origin-it.com)
-
Meerstad Project
- a company called YDreams did something
called the
Meerstad Project to visualize "planning of a new lake and city within
an 700km2 area, which will significantly change the landscape of
Groningen, an island in the north of The Netherlands."
- July 2006, Gustavo Arciniegas shares a view of a VTP model of his flat study
area Dinkel, the Netherlands. Blue lines outline the Dinkel river and the polygons
represent a certain flood scenario:
